pour one out for all those fic readers who found one author who wrote one really good fic for their fandom then clicked on their profile to find they wrote exactly one fic for that fandom and the rest for, like, csi or something
Over the trees Over mountains over seas I will fly far away in a firestorm Over the hills Over valleys and the fields I will burn everything Under my silver wings
Mason Alexander Park as Ian Wright QUANTUM LEAP (2022-)
So, I bingewatched Quantum Leap, reluctantly, because the original show is my all-time-favorite, and I really didn’t need a new one. And I didn’t like it much, mostly because I felt nothing for the main actors. There were like 2-3 episodes I actually liked. But they? This character, Ian? They were great. Instantly liked them, show did a good job there.
the thing is that if you don’t want to write fanfic because your spelling/grammar/formatting is bad, don’t worry about it
some of the best fanfics i’ve ever read have had some dodgy spelling or weird grammar or bad formatting, but they’ve also had a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the characters and setting and a fascinating premise, and they’ve rocketed up to the top of my favourite fics list
i really hate that fanfic has become synonymous with shipping
obviously people are writing and enjoying gen fic just like i am, but when you see people talk about fic they start with shipping or talk about how fic scratches the itch of seeing x and y making out or whatever
and that’s not to say that shipping fic or smut fic is a bad thing - they’re great! not my thing personally, but i’m not saying that they shouldn’t exist. i just wish when people talked about fanfic there wasn’t this overtone that fics need to have your faves getting together or it’s trash, you know
